The Jackson Racing Cold Air Intake allows your car to breath clean, cool air for maximum horsepower, up to 14HP in most cases. If you are old enough to remember the old muscle cars with Cowl-Air Induction and Ram-Air Induction, you know that cold air does help performance. Instead of adding one of those unsightly hoods that you can barely see over, the JR Cold Air Intake system tucks neatly under the hood. A strategically placed scoop brings cold air into the throttle body with increased velocity. The combination of cool air and pressurized air (at speed) will increase your horsepower!
This clever design installs within the engine bay just above and behind the radiator core-support, where it captures air from a high pressure area within the top of the radiator intake in the nose of your Miata. Then it cleans that air before sending on to your engine, under pressure that is caused by your Miata moving at speed. The faster you go, the greater the pressure. Hence the catchy phrase:
"With a Ram-Air System, the faster you go - THE FASTER YOU GO!"
Each system includes a high-quality foam air filter for increased airflow and filtration, and complete detailed instructions for installation.
We can hear it now. Everyone that was born too late to experience the Muscle Car Era of the late 60's & early 70's is saying,"Dude, what's Ram-Air?"
But if you missed that era, don't sweat it.
Here's your chance to muscle in on the action!
Ram-Air is the collection of intake air directly from the atmosphere moving over the car at speed. This process utilizes the increased air pressure caused by that speed to force, or "Ram", air into the intake to increase intake-manifold pressures (or mitigate partial vacuum). Further, since this air is taken from sources outside of the engine bay, the intake air is almost always closer to ambient temperatures (cold air).
More air means more HP.
And more air that is closer to ambient temperatures means even more HP!!!
