HERE'S THE STORY BEHIND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS RACING BEAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!
When Mazda released the MX-5 in 2006, lots and lots of manufacturers scrambled to build an exhaust system for this cool little car. Some of these manufacturers knew what they were doing and had the resources to make it happen, and some of them should have stayed on the porch.
What everyone quickly discovered was that the new 2.0-liter engine in the MX-5 produced an exhaust note that was much different than the tone on the earlier Miata power plants. And when the less skilled manufacturers among the group tried to use similar exhaust methods that worked on earlier versions of the Miata, they were shocked at what they heard -- because it wasn't pretty!
Most of the less knowledgeable manufacturers just gave up. Good. But unfortunately, some of these guys with questionable credentials went ahead to produce some systems that sounded like the back-yard cobbled-together creations that they were. Not cool. Some new MX-5 owners even bought them. Extremely -- Not Cool!
In the meantime, a few qualified builders did build good systems for the new MX-5, and the Raven Wing offers them. But many enthusiasts were still asking, "Where is Racing Beat?"
Well, Racing Beat was busy meeting the challenge to design a MX-5 exhaust system that did more than most would expect. They set out to provide a system that improves exhaust gas flow, provides a comfortable and reasonable exhaust tone, improves performance, and looks great. And, we're very happy to announce that they've done it!
In order to accomplish this, the Racing Beat team developed several different straight-through mufflers, chambered mufflers, and baffled mufflers in an attempt to optimize power gains, while moderating the “boomy” tones that prevailed under deceleration. And they met their objectives with a system that delivers an outstanding combination of quality sound, appearance, and performance. And all of this was designed to appeal to MX-5 owners that drive their cars on a daily-basis and prefer a more mature, modest exhaust tone… yet will provide an aggressive "attitude" when you jump on the throttle!
So if you're looking for the performance, the sound, the look,.. here it is!
