Harness Tabs are strategically welded to the roll bar structure so that safety harnesses can be bolted or clipped directly to the roll bar.
Harness Tabs are usually welded to the harness bar.
MAIN HOOP
The main hoop is the primary roll bar component that helps to protect the vehicle's occupant(s) in a roll-over accident.
If a roll bar consists only of a main hoop, it's a
"2-POINT" roll bar.
BACK BRACES
Back braces help to provide fore and aft support to the main hoop.
A main hoop with two back braces is a
"4-point" roll bar.
SINGLE DIAGONAL
A single brace that triangulates the roll bar structure and helps to provide side-to-side support to the main hoop.
On sports cars with limited space for seating, the braces
usually connect between the main hoop and a back brace.
Note: Different manufacturers could install the brace
with an opposite slant than shown here..
DOUBLE DIAGONAL
Two braces that triangulate the roll bar structure and help to provide side-to-side support to the main hoop.
On sports cars with limited space for seating, the braces usually connect between the main hoop and back braces.
HARNESS BAR
Safety harnesses (racing seat belts) can attach to the harness bar.
The harness webbing (belts) can wrap around the bar with a buckle type fastener, or they can be fastened to harness tabs.
On sports cars with limited space for seating, harness bars are usually welded between the back braces.
Hey Race Fans,
The Harness Tabs in the illustration above are typical of what you'd find on "most" roll bars.
But the Harness Tabs on the Hard Dog line of roll bars are actually very clever brackets that weld to the back-stays and have pre-threaded holes for installing your shoulder harness eye-bolts.
And, they are very robust in design - way better than simple tabs! Cool, eh?
